Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has gotten several new teammates to be built around her by the franchise, and one analyst touched on the potential dynamic of Clark and WNBA veteran DeWanna Bonner.
Analyst Rachel Annmarie DeMita, in one of their recent videos, touched on the recent off-season moves by the Indiana Fever, particularly in acquiring DeWanna Bonner as a free agent. For the analyst, the reason for a veteran like Bonner wanting to stay with Fever is interesting.
“Look at DeWanna Bonner… with her being on the Indiana Fever, she has fans coming up to her crying because they are so excited for her to be joining the team,” DeMita said. “The kind of love and support that she is now going to feel that she might not have felt for most of her WNBA career. The brand deals that come on top of that just because of the visibility the Indiana Fever is going to have… I can’t imagine these players not wanting to stay here (Indiana).”
The Indiana Fever has been dubbed “America’s Team” for the upcoming 2025 WNBA season, largely due to the immense popularity and impact of their star player, Caitlin Clark, and the franchise’s off-season moves.
Before joining the Indiana Fever, DeWanna Bonner had an impressive performance with the Connecticut Sun. During her five seasons with the Sun, she consistently demonstrated her scoring and defensive abilities. In the 2024 season, Bonner averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, earning her third All-Star selection in four years.

Bonner’s versatility on the court allowed her to play both shooting guard and small forward positions effectively. She was known for her ability to score, defend, and provide leadership to her team. Throughout her career, Bonner has been a two-time All-WNBA selection and a three-time Sixth Woman of the Year.
