Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark expressed her support to friends and former Iowa Hawkeyes teammates Jada Gyamfi and Gabbie Marhsal as the latter two shared a wholesome moment on social media.
In a social media post, Iowa Hawkeyes junior forward Jada Gyamfi posted a video where she met former Iowa teammates Gabbie Marshall because she “needed a hug.” Caitlin Clark, who they both used to play under the Hawkeyes, joined in on the moment through the comments section.
The video caption read: “Needed a hug…so I flew to go get one <3″
“Yasssssssssss,” Clark wrote under the comments section.
During their time at Iowa, Caitlin Clark, Jada Gyamfi, and Gabbie Marshall formed a strong bond as teammates on the Hawkeyes women’s basketball team.
Clark and Marshall were seniors, while Gyamfi was a junior. Together, they contributed to Iowa’s back-to-back NCAA championship game appearances in 2023 and 2024, as well as multiple Big Ten tournament titles.

Clark was the team’s standout player, responsible for a significant portion of their scoring and assists, while Marshall was known for her defensive prowess. Gyamfi, despite facing challenges with playing time, cherished her close relationships with Clark and Marshall.
After graduating, Caitlin Clark was drafted as the first overall pick by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. She had an impressive rookie season, earning the Rookie of the Year title and setting records in scoring and assists.

Meanwhile, Gabbie Marshall chose not to pursue a professional basketball career. Instead, she retired from the sport and moved to North Carolina to pursue a master’s degree in occupational therapy. Despite their different paths, both Clark and Marshall continue to support each other and maintain their friendship.

In an interview earlier this year, White described the Fever’s roster moves as an effort to bring more experience to the team and to build around its current trio of star players.
“Our priority was to find veterans because we had young, inexperienced talent, who want to be great, who want to be successful,” White said. “But there’s no substitute for experience.”

The Fever’s recent moves were all an effort to build a more experienced roster around their big three: Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell.
