Brazilian-American reporter Roberta Rodrigues slammed Indiana Fever’s star rookie Caitlin Clark for supposedly over-complaining in games. Aside from claiming that Clark forces her teammates to “babysit” her, the sports journalist also put out her thoughts about how the rookie guard supposedly regarded her teammates.
In a rant on X, Rodrigues expressed her “unsolicited opinion” following Clark’s comments on her teammates’ “de-escalation tactics” whenever they found her arguing with officials, downplaying them as “something funny.”
“Caitlin Clark behaves and exists like a white teenage boy, including using the privileges that come with being one. It may be all giggles among the teammates for now, but getting your mostly black teammates to babysit you and finding it funny, especially when they start getting techs themselves as a result of your actions, has a really bad ring to it,” Rodrigues posted.
“She is surely cool about being de-escalated, but had things to say about being fouled. She sees players being destroyed in her name and doesn’t do anything about it,” she continued.
The reporter said Clark’s over-complaining is one of the reasons that “makes it impossible to appreciate Caitlin Clark beyond her basketball.” Without naming any names, Rodrigues also compared the Fever rookie to other players in the league who are “much more poised than her being called the most horrible things.”
Caitlin Clark is just one technical foul away from being served a one-game suspension in the regular season. Regardless, she has been the Fever’s key player this season with her average of 19.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists, and 1.3 steals.
The Indiana Fever is currently the sixth seed in the WNBA with a 20-19 standing.
Caitlin Clark’s teammates always watch out for her temper
Photographer Bri Lewerke shared numerous photos on Instagram featuring Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark arguing with the officials. Clark’s teammates reacted to how they tried to calm her down in those instances, with Aliyah Boston and Erica Wheeler especially laughing.
“We work overtime,” Boston commented with two laughing emojis, while Wheeler posted four.
Even Clark herself laughed with them in the comments, posting, “Bruh.”
The Fever has won seven of their last 10 games in the latter half of the regular season, with one game left to play against the Dallas Wings. Regardless of the outcome of that match, they are locked in for the playoffs, waiting to find out who their opponent will be in the first round.
