After a jaw-dropping rookie season with the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark finally hit pause — taking a well-deserved break to reset, recharge, and most importantly, level up for year two in the WNBA.
Let’s be real: rookies take a beating. But when you’re Caitlin Clark — one of the most hyped prospects women’s basketball has ever seen — the physicality was turned up to the max. Clark knew if she wanted to survive and thrive in the league, she needed to come back stronger. And that’s exactly what she spent her offseason doing.
According to WNBA analyst and ESPN reporter Alexa Philippou, Clark made it a point to get away from the constant spotlight, focusing on both her game and her well-being. “It was a really healthy experience for her to be out of the spotlight after such a crazy first year in the league,” Philippou shared. “Between the on-court work, the weight room grind, and just living a normal life, it was a rewarding few months.”
The work is already paying off. Speaking after the Fever’s second day of training camp, Clark gave major props to the team’s strength and conditioning coach Sarah Kessler for helping her transform her body.
“That was my biggest focus in the offseason — trying to get stronger,” Clark said. “Having that consistency for six months, I definitely feel a lot stronger.”

She added, “It’s going to help me offensively, defensively, and even with my stamina. Even through these first two practices, I can already feel the difference.”

Sharpened and Strengthened: Caitlin Clark’s Blueprint for a Bigger Year
Caitlin Clark also made it a mission to expand her offensive arsenal. While she’s already a certified sniper from deep, she spent countless hours with Fever player development coach Keith Porter polishing her mid-range jumper and finishing at the rim.

Philippou reported that Clark worked tirelessly on her pull-ups, floaters, and all the little shots that make stars even harder to guard.
If you thought rookie Caitlin Clark was scary when she was launching from the logo, just wait until you see her attacking the paint and hitting floaters in traffic.

The Fever have their sights set on a bigger playoff run — and with a tougher, sharper Caitlin Clark leading the way, they’re poised to shake up the WNBA in 2025.
