Once more, WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark broke another record. After her game against the Minnesota Lynx, the Indiana Fever point guard became the third WNBA and NBA player to have reached more than 500 points and 200 assists before their 30th career game.
Twitter/X analysts of the Clark Report and Warriors Muse have been watching Clark’s plays lately as she nearly approaches the mentioned record.
According to these two accounts, the 2024 WNBA All-Star joined with NBA legends Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, and Oscar Robertson. There are no more players who did the same things as these four.
Despite her first year in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark immediately used the moment to break tons of records. Some are considered impossible for a rookie to achieve.
Last week, she broke the legend Ticha Penichiero’s record for a player with the most assists in her rookie season, 226.
Caitlin Clark is a beast when it comes to providing assists for her team. Previously, she also set the WNBA all-time record for the most assists in a single game, rookie or not.
However, assistance is only one area in which she excels. The first overall pick of the WNBA Draft is also a beast when it comes to shooting for her team.
The Des Moines native also broke league records for the first rookie to record a triple-double. She’s also the single-game leader in three-point field goals made by a rookie, with seven.
She is also the current all-time leader in consecutive point-assist double-doubles in the season and double-doubles made by a rookie guard.
Clark is truly a testament to her legendary plays, even in her first year in the pro league.
The two-time AP Player of the Year breaking WNBA records is not the first time in her career. She’s already doing the same thing back at the NCAA.
She’s currently the all-time leader in points in the collegiate women’s basketball league throughout her four years at Iowa.
Caitlin Clark has more years to come and records to break as well.
Caitlin Clark will remain steadfast in focusing on support for the Indiana Fever. Instead of contending to offense, which is already filled with her teammates, she instead prioritizes supporting them through assists.
Despite having room for improvement, it’s all part of the Iowa Hawkeyes alumnus experience as a rookie. However, it’s all overshadowed by her exceptional plays on the court.
The Fever rookie is on a mission to bring her team to the perfect spot as the regular season concludes in September. For them to achieve their desired placing, they would need more wins and overcome challenges.
