Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever fell prey to the Washington Mystics on Wednesday at home, 89-84. However, that was not because of a lack of effort from Clark, who had an incredible individual performance that helped her make yet another WNBA history.
Via Clark Report:
There is 1 player in #WNBA history who has recorded the following stats in a single season:
381 Points
175 Assists
136 Rebounds
65 3PT made
35 Steals
20 BlocksHer name is Caitlin Clark, and she still has 17 games left in the season
Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever fall to Mystics
Against the Mystics, Clark went off for 29 points on 7/14 shooting from the field with five 3-pointers on nine attempts to go with 13 assists, five steals, and three blocks. In other words, Clark did everything she could for the Fever, who unfortunately failed to overcome Washington.
On the season, Clark is averaging 16.7 points, 5.9 boards, and 7.6 assists through 23 games. She’s just in her first season in the WNBA but Clark is showing rapid maturity as a pro, and that’s scary news for the rest of the league.
As a team, the Fever shot 53.4 percent from the field to just 44 percent by the Mystics, but Washington made up for their poor shooting percentage with volume. The Mystics outshot the Fever, 75-58, thanks in large part to their offensive rebounding. Washington had 10 offensive rebounds to just two by Indiana.
The 9-14 Fever will take a rest on Thursday before taking on the Phoenix Mercury on Friday at home.
