While the noise from the 2025 WNBA Draft is still ringing, Paige Bueckers is already living up to the hype after going No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings. But when it comes to picking the best up-and-coming WNBA superstar, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić is still all in on Caitlin Clark.
During the latest episode of Sundae Conversation with Barstool Sports’ Caleb Pressley, Dončić was asked who his favorite women’s basketball player is — and without missing a beat, he picked the Indiana Fever guard.
When Pressley pushed him to explain why he chose Clark over Bueckers, Dončić kept it real, saying he hasn’t seen this year’s top draft pick play in the pros yet.
“She’s okay. I haven’t seen her play in the women’s NBA,” Dončić said about Bueckers.
Dončić’s take feels less like a diss and more like a reminder that the Caitlin vs. Paige battle is just getting started — and it’s going to be way closer (and more exciting) than most people realize.

Caitlin Clark vs. Paige Bueckers fueling WNBA’s rise
While the ongoing debate between Clark and Bueckers sparks endless arguments online, there’s one thing fans on both sides can agree on: they’re both helping take the WNBA to the next level.
Their star power is creating a major surge in the league’s popularity and commercial appeal. Caitlin Clark has already made history, setting records for trading card prices and finishing second overall (NBA and WNBA combined!) in jersey sales. Her impact is massive — and it’s only getting bigger.

But Bueckers isn’t far behind. Even before suiting up for her first official WNBA game, the Dallas Wings rookie has generated serious merchandise sales and buzz. She’s poised to give Clark some real competition — not just on the court, but at the merch table too.

Their growing rivalry — from game highlights to jersey sales — is exactly the kind of spark women’s basketball has needed. Both Clark and Bueckers are helping put the WNBA in a bigger spotlight than ever before, and fans are absolutely here for it.
One thing’s clear: the future of women’s basketball is very bright — and it’s being powered by two generational talents who are just getting started.
