Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark had more than just basketball on her mind this weekend. The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year was overjoyed after her teammate, Lexie Hull, announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Will Matthiessen. Hull broke the happy news on Instagram Sunday, posting a series of photos capturing the magical moment when Matthiessen got down on one knee.
The post featured candid snapshots of the proposal, set in a scenic outdoor backdrop. Fans and friends quickly flooded the comments with love and support, but it was Clark’s exuberant comment that caught everyone’s attention. “YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYY SO HAPPY,” she wrote, adding even more excitement by reposting the engagement announcement on her Instagram story. Clearly, the love between teammates goes far beyond the court.

Hull and Matthiessen’s relationship began during their days at Stanford University, where both were standout athletes. Hull made her mark with the Cardinal women’s basketball team, while Matthiessen was a versatile player for Stanford’s baseball squad, serving as a first baseman, designated hitter, and even relief pitcher. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB Draft but wrapped up his professional career in 2024.
Hull, meanwhile, continues to shine in the WNBA. She’s entering her fourth season with the Indiana Fever after being drafted sixth overall in 2022 and is now heading into her second year as Clark’s teammate.

Caitlin Clark shows her all-out support for Indiana during game 1 in the NBA playoffs
While Caitlin Clark waits to kick off her first WNBA season, she’s already making waves in Indiana—and not just on the court. The basketball phenom was spotted courtside during Game 1 of the Indiana Pacers’ NBA Playoff matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Wearing a Pacers yellow shirt, Clark blended in with the home crowd but still managed to stand out as she greeted fans and appeared on the jumbotron inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

She proved to be a good luck charm as the Pacers dismantled the Bucks, 117-98. Indiana only trailed twice in the first quarter before taking control, thanks in part to Pascal Siakam, who knocked down a key three-pointer to give them a lead they never relinquished.

Between love stories and playoff magic, it’s been a weekend full of wins for Indiana, and Caitlin Clark is right at the heart of it.
