Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark showed her appreciation to new teammate Sophie Cunningham, seemingly not having enough of her jersey number engraved on the court floor of the Carver-Hawkeyes Arena.

In a post by the Fever’s official Instagram account, Sophie Cunningham posed lying down on the part of the Arena where the name of Caitlin Clark and her No. 22 is engraved on the floor.

“Feelin’ 22 this morning,” the caption said.

    “Nice Sophie 😂😂😅😅,” Clark commented.

Cunningham herself commented under the post, and said: “honesty, this photo didn’t age well considering the shot she made yesterday smh 🤦🏼‍♀️”

“She’s just had a lot of pressure on her shoulders,” Cunningham said of Clark. “No one’s walked in her footsteps, so it’s really easy to judge and just say things. At the end of the day, we just all need to empower each other and be there for each other.”

“She’s done a lot, and that rookie class, to bring attention to our league, and it’s needed. That’s what we’ve always wanted. Why would we not embrace them and make sure they’re good?”

Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham have developed a close friendship since becoming teammates on the Indiana Fever. Cunningham, who joined the Fever in a four-team trade, has quickly bonded with Clark, both on and off the court.

Their playful interactions have been a highlight of the team’s dynamic, with Clark often teasing Cunningham and fellow teammate Lexie Hull on social media.

During the Fever’s media day, Cunningham and Hull posed for photos together, showcasing their coordinated blonde looks, which Clark jokingly commented on, saying, “Little less tanning. A little more bball ladies.”

Caitlin Clark Makes Strong Championship Statement

It is no secret that the Indiana Fever is aiming not only to make a better playoff performance for the 2025 season. Caitlin Clark herself had repeatedly expressed her goal of getting a championship, and her recent press interview is no different.

“Yeah, a championship, that’s our goal,” Clark said. “It’s going to take a lot of hard work and we’ve got a new team. It’s going to take some time to put it together, but I think everybody’s thankful we got some really great vets that have won (WNBA championship) before, and then we got some people back.”

“Should be a great season,” she added.
