Caitlin Clark just seems to be able to do it all. She’s been a college basketball superstar, and she carried on that wave of popularity to the WNBA, ultimately earning herself the Rookie of The Year award. However, one thing she did not make it to is the US national team for the Olympics. As Clark bared in an interview, the rejection to play for the Olympics gave her motivation for her career.
In an interview with TIME, Clark discussed her experience with getting the unfortunate news that she did not make the US national team, and how her dream of playing for the Olympics would not happen just yet.
“They were like, ‘Yeah, we haven’t selected you,’” Clark shared. “Obviously, we think the world of how you play and blah, blah, blah.’”
Despite the rejection, Clark mentioned that it “woke a monster.” While she did not get to play for Paris, a spot to play for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is a “huge, huge goal” for her.
Looking at the positive side, Caitlin Clark still considered the rejection a blessing. Not only did she get the rest she needed, but she also stated that getting excluded from the Olympics “will definitely motivate me my entire career.”
Caitlin Clarks Gets Promise From Taylor Swift: Will Watch Indiana Fever Games in 2025
If you are Caitlin Clark, you just don’t get your friends to promise you that they will attend your game. You get to have Taylor Swift invite herself and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, to your future games.
That was what the WNBA Rookie of The Year got when she attended one of the shows from Swift’s Eras Tour in Indianapolis. During her back-to-back attendance, not only did Clark gain too much attention she did not expect she would, considering it was a huge concert of someone of a caliber as Taylor Swift, but she also received four Eras Tour merch bags from Taylor.
The merch bags came with a note from Tay herself, telling Clark that she is “inspiring to watch from afar.”
In addition to that, Taylor also promised Clark that “Trav and I” would watch an Indiana Fever game soon, citing that the Eras Tour slowing down would give them a chance to do so. She also invited Caitlin to watch a Chiefs game in the same box as her.
Right now, Caitlin Clark is enjoying her off-season from the WNBA and will hit the court once the 2025 season opens in May.
