Caitlin Clark dropped several fresh takes on her life in her most recent interview with TIME magazine, after being crowned ‘Athlete of the Year’. In the interview, Clark discussed the highs and lows of her career and personal life, with many eye-opening facts and trivia about herself.
Clark also spoke about not making the Paris Olympics team, and how she felt when she heard the news. Apparently, Clark already started training and performing well in hopes that she would play for the US national team in the Paris Olympics. In fact, even during not-so-great days, Clark would take to the hardwood to do shooting drills and was expecting a call from her agent.
“And I’m like, ‘Sh-t” Clark said to herself when her agent asked to speak with her.

Despite being confident that she would play in the Paris Olympics, Clark was shocked to find that she did not make the team. The officials of the USA basketball team did try to console Clark that her numbers were indeed excellent but to no avail. However, Clark seemed to accept the news with the hope that she would make the team someday.
Caitlin Clark’s TIME Title Questioned By Sheryl Swoopes
While many are lauding praises on Caitlin Clark’s achievement as ‘Athlete of the Year’ by TIME magazine, there are also many who downplayed it. Quite recently, Gil Arenas, former basketball player, had Sheryl Swoopes, former WNBA MVP, as a guest on his podcast Gil’s Arena. The two discussed TIME magazine crowning Clark with the coveted title.

While Arenas was simply impressed by the feat, Swoopes did not look too thrilled. The 53-year-old WNBA legend came out to say that Clark getting the ‘Athlete of the Year’ title by TIME magazine was quite ‘special’, but went on to question what criteria the Indiana Fever star had fulfilled in order to get the title in the first place.
In the past, Swoopes has made several attacks against Caitlin Clark’s game, and despite being called out for it has repeated her bad habit. She even chimed in with A’ja Wilson as a strong contender for the title and questioned why the Las Vegas Aces center was not considered.

Quite immediately, fans of Caitlin Clark and sports fans in general, came out in defense and were definitely irked with Swoopes’s opinion. Some even went on to say that Swoopes is simply being jealous of Clark’s achievements. Whatever the case may be, Caitlin Clark has already gone down in history as the first WNBA player to receive the coveted title.
