Caitlin Clark and Victor Wembanyama had similar career paths, entering their respective leagues as top basketball prospects. Both seen as generational talents, the two rookies created impact not just on their teams but on the entire basketball industry.
Dubbed as the best rookie prospect since LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama captivated the basketball world with his 7-foot-4 frame and game IQ. On the other hand, Caitlin Clark is seen as the female counterpart of Steph Curry, who put women’s basketball to another level.
Basketball fans anticipated both players on TV, but the Indiana Fever guard outshone the French big man as the viewership numbers came in.
In a report by Sports Media Watch through Sportskeeda, Clark attracted an average of 1.18 million viewers across different networks, edged out Wembanyama, who is just below 1.01 million.
Still seen as one of the main attractions in basketball, Clark is far from eclipsing Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James with 1.66 million while the Boston Celtics did 1.34 million.
Caitlin Clark gets a taste of her first WNBA playoff action
Injecting Caitlin Clark into the 2024 WNBA season, the Indiana Fever was able to make it to the playoffs. This team is paired up with the Connecticut Sun and got a whipping in Game 1 of their best-of-three series, 93-69.
Finishing with only 11 points on 4-of-17 shooting, Clark struggled dropping only two of her 13 three-point attempts. Now with their back against the wall, the Fever rookie faced the post game interview showing an air of confidence that they can bounce back after a 24-point beatdown.
“We can win. It’s not anything about the building. It’s not about the gym. It’s not about the hoops. I have all the confidence in the world in this team and everybody in our locker room does and I know we’ll be a lot better on Wednesday.”

Marina Mabrey was the Sun’s top scorer coming off the bench with 27 points while DeWanna Bonner is not far behind with 22. On the other side, Kelsey Mitchell was the Fever’s top gun with 21 points while Aaliyah Boston tallied a strong double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds during the loss.
The Indiana Fever will face the Connecticut Sun again on Wednesday, September 25 for Game 2. If Clark and her teammates managed to win, Game 3 will happen two days after in the Gainsbridge Fieldhouse in front of the Indianapolis crowd.
