Caitlin Clark’s popularity is not largely due to her race, but due to the fact that she is “not angry,” and doesn’t “rub her sexuality” in people’s faces. At least, this is what analyst and critic Jason Whitlock thinks.
In a recent episode of his program “Fearless,” Jason Whitlock got honest about the topic of Caitlin Clark and her popularity supposedly coming solely from the fact that she is white.
Citing the case of UConn Huskies star player Paige Bueckers, Whitlock debunked this idea by highlighting how Bueckers, despite being white, did not get the same attention and popularity that Clark enjoyed.
“Paige Bueckers is white, and allegedly being white is the magic bullet that solves all attendance problems and all ratings problems,” Whitlock said. “And she’s allegedly the best player in women’s college basketball, she’s in the championship game and she’s going to be the number one pick in the WNBA draft. Nobody wanted to see that and so let’s quit saying that Caitlin Clark’s popularity is based on her skin color.”
“Yes it plays a role but primarily it’s her likability it’s the fact that people don’t think she’s trying to rub her sexuality in people’s faces,” he added. “They don’t think she’s angry and feels entitled and they love the way she shoots the basketball and the style of play she plays with.
“And so this little simple-minded deal that, yeah people just love her because she’s white, well how come they don’t love Paige Bueckers? And how come Paige Bueckers wasn’t able to drive a huge attendance deal?”
“It’s just not true,” Whitlock added. “It’s never been true. It was one of the dumbest arguments in the history of sports.”

Caitlin Clark Likened to Tiger Woods by Jason Whitlock
In the same episode of his program, Jason Whitlock also likened Caitlin Clark to golf legend Tiger Woods, mainly due to the impact she has made on women’s basketball and, in Whitlock’s take, the entirety of American basketball.
“The drop off from the last two years and particularly last year speaks to just what an incredible force,” Whitlock said. “And this is why I keep saying Caitlin Clark is the most popular athlete in all of the American sports. She’s a force of nature. I think these ratings prove it she is. She drives more TV ratings than anybody.”

To top it off, Whitclok linked Clark to golf legend Tiger Woods.
“She’s the Tiger Woods of women’s basketball.”

Caitlin Clark is gearing up for the 2025 season of the WNBA.
