On Tuesday’s episode of “Straight to Cam,” LA Sparks star Cameron Brink opened up about her height growing up. Rapper NLE Choppa, the guest on the podcast episode, asked Brink how it felt growing up with a towering height.
The 6-foot-4, 170-pound Sparks forward said being tall was a huge concern for her, especially when she was younger.
“It definitely bothered me. I hated being tall,” Brink said. “I feel like it’s something that every—not just girls, but guys too—I know a lot of guys that don’t like their height at a young age. And then, it’s something you, like, have to grow into.”
Brink added that she eventually grew accustomed to her height after being uncomfortable about it for the longest time. She had learned to adapt to being tall and said that her height no longer bothered her in romantic relationships.
“Now, I would not change it for the world because I think it makes me unique and I stand out and everything. But I just felt so awkward,” the 23-year-old added.

In the same episode of “Straight to Cam” podcast, Cameron Brink revealed that she first met rapper NLE Choppa at a party hosted by Steph Curry’s whiskey brand Gentleman’s Cut. The Sparks star said she acted “nerdy and awkward” when she and Choppa met.
Brink asked Choppa what his first impression of her was at the time.
“My first impression, I’m not gonna lie, it has to be like you were tiring,” Choppa said. “I was like, ‘She’s so tall.’ But I [saw] I knew you and I was like I’m always like in support. … Just [that], I’m a big fan of women’s basketball and I’m loving the evolution of it. So, I [have] always been in support from that standpoint.”
The Sparks selected Brink as the second-overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Unfortunately, her season ended too early following an ACL injury she suffered in the first quarter of their 79-70 loss to the Connecticut Sun on June 18 last year. She played in only 15 games, averaging 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds.
In the upcoming season, Brink will be joined by a new teammate, two-time WNBA champion and three-time All-Star Kelsey Plum, who came from the Las Vegas Aces via a trade.
