In a story she posted on Instagram, Cameron Brink posted a photo of herself from her recent photoshoot, side-by-side with old swimsuit photos of her mother, Michelle Brink.

Michelle Brink had an impressive college basketball career at Virginia Tech from 1984 to 1988. Her standout season was 1987-88, when she led the team in total points (471) and rebounds (215), averaging 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She finished her college career with 1,068 points and was later honored in 2009 as part of the ACC Women’s Basketball Legends.
While she has not ventured into professional modeling, photos shared by her daughter Cameron, proved that she had the looks and the skills to pull off a shoot or two.

During her Sports Illustrated interview (for the same swimsuit photoshoot), Cameron Brink acknowledged the pioneering women who paved the way for the WNBA and women’s basketball, such as Elena Delle Donne, Candace Parker, Maya Moore, Lisa Leslie, and Breanna Stewart.
Brink was introduced to the world of women’s basketball endorsements early on through her mother, Michelle, who had partnered with Nike on signature shoes for WNBA athletes. As Brink advanced in her basketball journey, she also honored influential figures in the sport.
“I think you always have to look back at the women before you, my mom has definitely taught me that. I’m very thankful for those role models, because we wouldn’t be where we are today without them.”

Brink called the opportunity to model for the publication “empowering.” She also mentioned, however, how showing off more skin than usual can be a little challenging.
“I think every female athlete has had a really rough go with body image, but I’m definitely glad I’ve gotten to a really good place and I’m able to do stuff like this with SI Swimsuit. It’s just very empowering, so I hope everyone can get to a point like this.”

According to a recent interview, Brink revealed that she is taking things “step by step” with the Sparks.
“I’m thankful that I’m not getting any pressure from the org,” she said. “The Sparks are doing a really good job of just supporting me fully through this process.”
