Unlike in past seasons, the New York Knicks have finally things around by fielding a playoff-worthy roster led by All-Star guard Jalen Brunson. Carmelo Anthony, one of the franchise’s best players, has applauded how the front office has assembled such a lineup for the following season.
The Knicks have undergone a remarkable transformation this offseason, positioning themselves as legitimate championship contenders in the 2024-25 NBA season.

The highlight of their offseason was the acquisition of talented wing Mikal Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. The two-way star will complement the Knicks’ young core and provide them with the type of versatile superstar they’ve lacked in recent years.
Equally important was the New York’s decision to extend head coach Tom Thibodeau‘s contract for three more years. His defensive-minded approach has been central to the team’s improvement, and the continued leadership will be invaluable as the Knicks aim to take the next step.
While the team may still need to address its center position, the Knicks’ offseason moves have been nothing short of impressive. They have addressed their key needs and built a roster capable of challenging the Eastern Conference’s elite.
Former NBA Star Carmelo Anthony Reveals Opinion About New York Knicks’ Updated Roster

In an episode of Podcast P with Paul George, former NBA All-Star commended the Knicks for how they’ve assembled their current roster for next season.
“So this is not a biased opinion, what I’m about to say is real. I think they put together a really, really, really good roster. They took their time to get with the pieces that they really need. It probably was a lot of pressure on them to go get a super superstar, whatever type of superstar, whoever you think would be worthy of going to the Knicks. But they ain’t listen to none of that shit.
They stuck with what they was doing. They knew the pieces that they needed…They knew they needed to bring OG back. JB was that was going to happen with that contract and then now you plug and play, right. We can’t keep Hartenstein, he got to go. It’s a sad loss. You get what I’m saying? What he did for the team and his role, but that’s just the nature of the game. But to now have an opportunity to bring Julius back, a healthy Julius coming in with a different mindset and a different understanding.
Like’ oh shit, we have an opportunity to go do something special.’ So now he got to figure out what he has to do and I don’t want to say fit in, but to make it work because it’s not going to be the same role for him bringing him [Mikail] on, bringing OG back. You’ve been hurt. So now it’s a different type of flow, different type of rhythm.
Now you got to figure out how to work within this and still be who you are, but within all of this. So I like it. I like it a lot. I like what Philly did too. I just like that East coast energy, you know what I’m saying? I know what the energy in Philly is like and I know what the energy in New York is like,” Anthony said.
The Knicks are projected to have one of their highest win totals (52.5) since the 1997-98 season, a testament to their offseason moves. The addition of Bridges and locking Anunoby to a new deal has elevated New York’s roster and championship aspirations, with oddsmakers expecting them to be among the NBA’s elite in the 2024-25 campaign.

It remains to be seen how New York will perform in the upcoming season. If Anthony is to be believed, they’re going to surpass everything they’ve done in the past decade or so.
