Former Los Angeles Lakers player Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan recently outed that he believes himself and his father to be the best father-and-son duo in the NBA, putting fellow Lakers player and four-time MVP Lebron James and son LeBron “Bronny” James Jr.
In his recent appearance on Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, Kiyan Anthony was asked who he thinks is the best father and son duo in the NBA.
“Me and my pops,” he said. “The Boozers, Boozers is nice. Alijah Arenas and Gilbert Arenas, that’s four. Tajh Ariza and Trevor Ariza. There’s a lot though, there’s a lot.”
Kiyan also added that while he wants to have a successful career at the NBA like his father, he does not see himself playing as long as father, or even King James. “I don’t know if I could be on something LeBron-type like 20-something years, Kiyan said about the topic.
Carmelo Anthony ran a career in the NBA for two decades and played for a total of 19 seasons. On the other hand, James is the oldest active player in the NBA right now, and has played for 22 seasons throughout his career.
Citing potential issues as he gets older, Kiyan recalled how his father would always train on a regular basis to keep his performance level in check.
“My dad was in the house all day just treatment, in the gym, in the weight room so he really got locked in.”
Beyond Carmelo Anthony: Fathers and Sons in The NBA
Aside from the duo of Carmelo Anthony and son Kiyan, as well as King James and his junior Bronny, another notable duo is former NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer and his twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer. Following in the footsteps of their father, the twins already have a successful history in high school and college basketball. Their father Carlos played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers among others.
As for Kiyan, he has made waves in high school basketball and is expected to continue on this success to college, though he has not yet announced any final choice for his pick. Carmelo Anthony, now retired, has had a colorful career, being hailed as a 10-time All-Star, and has been a three-time Olympic gold medalist as well.
