Jaylen Brown’s rival is not just Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Boston Celtics star has beef even with a shoe brand.
The 2024 Finals MVP, who also has his own shoe company called 741, is beefing with Nike after he was shaded by the brand over a 59-point game performance by Giannis.
Before that, he called the Greek Freak a child for pranking him with a fake dap. Moments before that, he was struck by Antetokounmpo with an elbow on the face.
It’s been eight days since his X post and when asked by a reporter why he called Nike as someone that ‘got weird energy’, he defended that he is in right position to say something.
“This year, especially with people trying to create narratives, saying I’m not marketable and all different other type of stuff, I feel like it’s fair for me to say something in return. It don’t bother me. I’m not really thinking about nothing,” he said post game after their win at home against the Los Angeles Clippers.
“It don’t affect me. But you know, if I point something out, I’m just pointing it out, that’s it, and I move on.”
Jaylen Brown versus Nike
It should be noted that Brown has been critical of Nike. He previously turned down a $50 million offer from the company.
Over the summer, he insisted he won’t join Nike just be able to get to the USA Team, which excluded him for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Many thought it was unfair for him to be excluded since he just won the 2024 Finals MVP and the title.
In November 2022, he called out the company for firing Kyrie Irving after his former Celtics teammate allegedly made anti-semetic comments.
Since when did Nike care about ethics? https://t.co/f8t2eY994v
