The Boston Celtics just keep on letting it fly. The C’s torched another opponent on Monday with their torrid outside shooting, as they defeated James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers at TD Garden, 126-94.
The Boston Celtics went bonkers from deep against the Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers simply did not have enough firepower to keep up with the reigning NBA champions, and even if everyone in the building, including LA, knew that Boston was going to rely heavily on the three-ball, there was clearly nothing the visitors were able to do to stop the host team from making it rain from deep.
Via Jack Simone of Hardwood Houdini:
Joe Mazzulla on the Clippers knowing the Celtics are going to take a bunch of threes but being unable to stop it: “I think, when we’re at our best, that you have to have an understanding that, ‘This is what we do.'”
The Celtics hit 22 3-pointers against Los Angeles. They drained the bulk of them in the second quarter in which Boston knocked down 12 threes to tie an NBA record and set a new franchise mark. Payton Pritchard led the way on that front for Boston, as the former Oregon Ducks star came off the bench and drilled six 3-pointers. Derrick White had five triples, Jaylen Brown hit a trio of treys as well as Sam Hauser, while Jayson Tatum sank two from behind the arc.
So far in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, the Celtics are leading the entire league in both 3-points made per game (18.9) and 3-point attempts per contest (50.6).
