The Boston Celtics manhandled the New York Knicks during the opening. That is a team that is deemed as Top 3 in the Eastern conference. What does this mean for the rest of the league? A new dynasty according to Charles Barkley.

The Celts celebrated the opening night through a ring ceremony and while others could get caught in the euphoria, the reigning champs went business as usual as they dominated the new look Knicks from start to finish.

The display of dominance showed by the Celtics left Barkley thinking that maybe, the league has seen the birth of a new dynasty.

“They’re gonna be favored probably the next five to seven years,” Barkley said in his show NBA on TNT.

His prediction is not far-fetched. He is banking on the youth that the Celtics possess, led by their two All-Stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

For context, Tatum and Brown‘s age are athlete’s peak, 26 and 27, respectively.

“They’re gonna be favored to win the championship. You got Jayson and Jaylen, they’re two of the ten best players in the world. They’re young… Derrick White’s young, [Kristaps] Porzingis is young. They’re gonna be favored.”

The only two guys who might not be at their prime in those five to seven years are Jrue Holiday and Al Horford who are already 34 and 38.

Boston Celtics dynasty sure, Tatum and Brown in Top 10? Not really

Barkley’s take about the whole squad garnered generally positive reaction from fans. Where they are divided are his ranking of Tatum and Brown.

“These guys have some awful takes Glad Inside the NBA is ending,” wrote on X user on NBA on TNT account.

The duo are consistent performers and have been to multiple All-Star Games. However, most player ranking are not that generous on both.

CBS has Tatum in Top 7 while Brown is in 15th spot.  Inside the NBA Crew has a different take with Brown ranking higher at 9th than his partner’s 10th.

For ESPN is only in 14th spot.

Are Tatum and Brown going to dominate? Again, it is just the first game day.
