Eleven-time NBA All-Star and now sports analyst Charles Barkley made a call out to the Denver Nuggets, urging the Colorado team to be “greedy” and take full advantage of their star player and 2023 finals MVP Nikola Jokic.
During the halftime talk during the game between the Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors. By half-time, the Nuggets were in a closed lead at 57-55. During the TNT segment, Charles Barkley weighed in on the Nugget’s performance and why they need to take full advantage of their star player Nikola Jokic. That is, if they want to have another chance at a championship.
“I will say this about Denver: I hope they make a trade. You cannot waste the Joker’s career,” Barkley said during the halftime show. “He is the best player in the world. They could win [the championship] again. They let two guys go off the bench who were very vital to winning the championship. Their bench is weaker than water.
Charles Barkley went on to urge the Nuggets to “get greedy” when it comes to utilizing Jokic.
“Jamal [Murray] needs to step up, but you have to bring some guys,” he added. “They just let the guys go. You got the guy [Jokic] that great. You got to win some more. He got another five years. Because, when he gets older, his game is still gonna be fine. He is not the most athletic player in the world. You cannot waste this guy’s prime, he’s the best player in the world.”
“Get greedy.”
Jokic once more proves to be a pivotal factor for the Nuggets during the game. When he is out, the Warriors would lead them by up to 19 points at one point. While he is inside the court, though, he carried the Nuggets to a lead of even up to 23 points.
Ultimately, the Warriors failed to catch up and the Nuggets won the game with a final score of 119-115. This brought the Nuggets closer to the NBA Cup and brought the Warriors to a win-or-go-home point.
Charles Barkley on GSW: “They’re Cute”
While Charles Barkley had a lot of praise for Nikola Jokic, he also had a number of thighs to say about the Golden State Warriors—that they are “cute,” among other things.
“When they making threes they are tough to beat,” Charles Barkley said. “But I told you I don’t believe in the Warriors. But they’re cute, they’re fun to watch. I just don’t believe they have enough talent they got a bunch of jags, they got Steph and a bunch of jags, just guys. They don’t have enough star power.”
