NBA legend and analyst Charles Barkley has no confidence in the Golden State Warriors’ stock as a contender this season. The former 11-time All-Star doesn’t think the Warriors have a great ceiling despite some flashes of dominance they showed amid their 12-7 start to the 2024-25 season.
While discussing the Warriors’ 19 assists in the first half of their match against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, Barkley talked about how he feels about Golden State.
“They’re a fun little team to watch. When they’re making threes, they’re tough to beat,” Charles Barkley said. “But I told you I don’t believe in the Warriors. But they’re cute, they’re fun to watch.”

Co-host Kenny Smith asked Barkley the reason why he doubts the Warriors, to which the former NBA MVP replied that he doesn’t feel that the team has the star depth outside of Steph Curry, just like in their last five seasons.
“I just don’t think they have enough talent,” Barkley continued. “They got a bunch of JAGs [Just Another Guy]. They got Steph [Curry] and a bunch of JAGs … Just guys … Just a guy. And they don’t have enough star power.”
The Warriors had a hot 12-3 run early in the season thanks to their multiple role players, until they started to lack firepower, causing them to lose four straight games before their 119-115 loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday.
Shaquille O’Neal reacts to Charles Barkley’s roasting
The NBA on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” led by the familiar quartet of Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, Kenny “The Jet Smith, and Charles Barkley, has been a fun watch in recent years, especially due to the “constant bickering” between Shaq and Chuck.
On Tuesday, four-time champion O’Neal, who often roasted Barkley for his failure to win an NBA title in the entirety of his playing career, got his when the “Chuckster” dissed him over one of his biggest NBA Finals rivals.
“Coaching, instructing somebody to do (something) and giving somebody and taking away confidence are two different things,” O’Neal said on the show. “Can’t no coach give me or take away my confidence.”
Barkley quickly retorted, “Well, Hakeem (Olajuwon) did that,” to which Johnson chuckled.
“No, he didn’t,” Shaq replied, albeit looking a bit flustered.

Chuck: “Well Hakeem did that”

O’Neal’s Orlando Magic faced Olajuwon and his Houston Rockets in the 1995 NBA Finals. Olajuwon led all players in scoring in that series, averaging 32.8 points compared to O’Neal’s 28.0.
