NBA legend and analyst Charles Barkley got honest on why he thinks Democratic party candidate Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential elections.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Charles Barkley got honest about his thoughts on why Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party lost the last elections to Donald Trump.

“Let me tell you this here,” Barkley said. “We lost the election fair and square because number one, she picked an awful running mate. But I’m gonna tell you this as an independent: if the Democrats don’t get Josh Shapiro the governor of Pennsylvania or West Moore the governor of Maryland, if they are not the leader or the team up for the Democratic Party, I would not even consider voting for anybody else other than one of those two.”

“I think Josh Shapiro is amazing, I think Wes Moore is amazing,” he added. If the Democratic party does not pick one of those two, they gonna lose my support forever as an independent.”

With these things said, Barkley also clarified that he would not vote for Trump, even if he finds a way to make it constitutionally possible.

“I’m not gonna ever vote for Trump cuz he’s just not my cup of tea and obviously he can’t run again.”

Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, and Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland, have been receiving calls from Democratic leaders and supporters urging them to consider running for president in 2028.

Shapiro’s pragmatic leadership and ability to flip key districts in Pennsylvania have positioned him as a strong contender, while Moore’s inspiring leadership style and focus on equity have garnered national attention.

Kamala Harris faced Criticism Over Her Choice of Running Mate

Kamala Harris faced significant criticism following her loss in the 2024 presidential election, with many pointing to her choice of Tim Walz as her running mate as a key factor. Walz, the governor of Minnesota, was seen by some as lacking the national appeal and charisma needed to energize voters, particularly in crucial swing states.

Critics argued that Harris missed an opportunity to strengthen her campaign by selecting a more prominent figure, such as Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, whose popularity and influence in a pivotal state could have bolstered her chances.

Wednesday, August 28, 2024; Savannah, Georgia; Democratic Presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris and running-mate Tim Walz arrive in Savannah Georgia for a campaign tour on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

The backlash highlighted broader concerns about Harris’s campaign strategy and decision-making. While Walz brought progressive credentials to the ticket, his presence failed to resonate with voters in key battlegrounds.

This misstep, combined with other campaign challenges, left many Democrats questioning whether a different running mate for Kamala Harris could have altered the outcome of the election.
