NBA analyst and former Philadelphia 76ers legend Charles Barkley recently talked about the Dallas Mavericks and criticized the people behind the team for handling the situation they are in right now. In particular, he called out the person behind the decision to implement ticket price hikes for its games.
In one of the recent episodes of “The Steam Room” podcast, Charles Barkley touched on the current woes of the Dallas Mavericks right now. Their general manager Nico Harrison is still on fire by fans over the Luka Doncic trade, and players from their roster have dropped due to injuries one after another.
“Now, I gotta say something about the Dallas Mavericks,” Barkley said. “Kyrie, I’m sorry you tore your ACL. I hope all of you guys get healthy. It’s just been one of the worst breaks for everybody. Nico, you know I like you. I wish you nothing but the best.
“But I gotta kill ya’ll,” he added with a laugh.
“The person who announced this week that y’all raising ticket prices got to be the dumbest person in the history of civilization, ” he added. “You got to read the room, guys. This is not the time.”

Charles Barkley Defends Mavs GM: “I Give Him Credit”
While he called out the front office of the Mavs for raising ticket prices, Charles Barkley also cut Nico Harrison some slack and gave him credit, mainly for facing media questions and scrutiny following the hotly-discussed blockbuster trade that brought their former superstar Luka Doncic out of their team.
“I give him credit,” Barkley said on The Dan Patrick Show. “He went out there and answered all the questions. He didn’t run, he didn’t hide. A lot of times (when) these general managers make bad trades, they put statements and things like this. I give Nico credit. He sat down.”
He also pointed out how fans have previously praised Harrison for acquiring players who, back then, fans considered as good picks.
“A year ago, we were all patting Nico on the back because he went out and brought Gafford, PJ, and all these other guys and got the Mavs to the Finals,” Barkley said. “Everybody acts like it was only Luka and Kyrie that got them to the Finals. No! Nico did a great job last year when he made three or four trades that got them to the Finals.”

Throughout his career, Charles Barkley has had one MVP award and was an 11-time All-Star.
