The Charlotte Hornets are looking to fill up their coaching staff ahead of the 2024-25 season, and they recently revealed one popular name to be added to Charles Lee’s group.
Kemba Walker, who announced his retirement from basketball on Tuesday, was formally revealed as a player enhancement coach.
Walker was a three-time NBA All-Star during his eight years with the Charlotte Hornets. He joined the team in 2011 when he was selected with the No. 9 pick and is the franchise’s leading scorer with 12,009 points.
The 34-year-old guard is also the Charlotte Hornets’ all-time leader in three-pointers, win shares, and minutes played and is top 10 in assists (2nd), steals (3rd), games played (3rd), and rebounds (8th).
After playing for the Charlotte Hornets, Kemba Walker played for the Boston Celtics from 2019 to 2021, where he earned his fourth and final NBA All-Star selection. He also had stops with the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, and AS Monaco, where he won the French League championship this year.
Charlotte Hornets’ moves so far this offseason
The Charlotte Hornets have made two trades this summer to get Josh Green from the Dallas Mavericks and Reggie Jackson from the Denver Nuggets.
Green was acquired in a three-team deal with the Golden State Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks (which saw Klay Thompson moved to Texas), while Jackson was exchanged for three unprotected second-rounders.
The Charlotte Hornets also had two picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, where they used to select Tidjane Salaun with the No. 6 pick and KJ Simpson with the No. 42 pick.
