Chelsea Gray, tagged as one of the most successful women’s basketball players in the world today, is a product of the Duke Women’s Basketball program. She never forgot about her roots and in fact rooted for the Blue Devils in their Elite Eight match against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Unfortunately for Gray, the team she cheered for lost to the defending national champions.
The back-and-forth match saw the Blue Devils take a 42-38 lead going into the fourth quarter. However, the Gamecocks would mount 16- 8 scoring run to take the game out of Duke with a final score of 54-50.
Following the tough loss, Gray would take to X to show her support for her former college team.
“Proud of (Duke Women’s Basketball),” Gray said.
Proud of @DukeWBB !! 👏🏾👏🏾

The Las Vegas Aces star spent her entire college years at Duke, playing from 2010 to 2014. She knows all too well the feeling of losing in the Elite Eight as she led the Blue Devils to three consecutive Elite Eight appearances from 2011 to 2013 but failed to win all those. In Gray’s senior year in 2014, Duke lost in the round of 32.

She may not have been as successful in college, but Chelsea Gray has gone on to become a decorated professional basketball player, becoming a six-time WNBA All-Star and a three-time WNBA champion with a 2022 Finals MVP award to her résumé. She also recently became the inaugural champion of the Unrivaled Basketball League with the Rose Basketball Club.
Chelsea Gray Calls for The Aces to be ready in the next WNBA season
While watching the Duke Men’s Basketball team’s Elite Eight game against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, Chelsea Gray said that she felt inspired to try a new play for the Las Vegas Aces in the upcoming WNBA season.

Gray was inspired by the Duke men’s team’s alley-oop plays that she wants to bring them to the women’s league with her teammates A’Ja Wilson and Kiah Stokes.
“The way Duke lobbin’ for a dunk, I feel inspired… I need (Wilson) and (Stokes) to be ready for me to throw that thang to the moon,” Gray posted on X.

Neither Wilson nor Stokes have dunked in their careers. Fans will have to wait until the new WNBA season to see if they will be able to pull off those kinds of plays.
