DeMar DeRozan said he wants to extend his stay with the Chicago Bulls, but it remains to be seen whether the team is willing to give him his last big payday.
According to The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry, the Chicago Bulls are floating a two-year, $40 million extension to DeMar DeRozan, but the 34-year-old wants a longer contract.

“The Bulls would be happy to re-sign DeRozan on a two-year deal. DeRozan’s side obviously would covet more security. The Bulls have a habit of liberally latching player options into contracts so that carrot could come into play with DeRozan’s deal as well,” Mayberry wrote in his latest article.
“The dollar amount will be hefty, likely north of $40 million annually, but is less significant to the Bulls’ long-term flexibility. Chicago wants to keep DeRozan but at a reasonable commitment,” he added.
DeMar DeRozan had another strong year playing for the Chicago Bulls, averaging 24.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game on 48 percent shooting for the field in 79 regular-season games. He also led the NBA in minutes per game at 37.8.

If both sides don’t agree to a new deal, DeMar DeRozan will become an unrestricted free agent in July. By then, he will have the freedom to choose his next destination.
DeMar DeRozan may want to go back home to LA if it doesn’t work out with the Chicago Bulls
DeMar DeRozan recently said on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back show that he would consider joining the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, there have been no reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are keen on adding DeMar DeRozan this offseason. Instead, there’s a possibility that he’ll be playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, depending on their free agency situation.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Los Angeles Clippers could decide to bring in six-time NBA All-Star if Paul George leaves.
