After two years in the Windy City, Andre Drummond will return to the Philadelphia 76ers for the upcoming season. In turn, the big man paid tribute to the Chicago Bulls and all of their fans for the time he spent playing for the team.
Drummond has played for several NBA teams since being drafted 9th overall by the Detroit Pistons in 2012. He was one of the top high school prospects in 2011 and played one season at the University of Connecticut before declaring for the NBA draft.

The big man had a strong rookie season with the Pistons in 2012-13 and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. He made his first All-Star team in 2016 and led the league in rebounding that season. Drummond went on to make a second All-Star team in 2018 and led the NBA in rebounding three more times from 2018-2020.
In 2020, the former Pistons star was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he reached a buyout agreement in 2021. He then signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and most recently the Chicago Bulls. Throughout his career, Drummond has been one of the league’s premier rebounding big men and was part of the gold medal-winning 2014 U.S. national team at the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

With Drummond set to return to Philly, the center penned a farewell letter to the Bulls and the franchise’s fans. In a post he shared on X:
“Dear Chicago, Thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown me during my two years . It was nothing short of amazing! It was an honor to wear Chicago across my chest. I LOVE YOU 🫂 and see you soon ❤️🐂 We are always connected Y❤️,” Drummond tweeted.
In the two seasons he played alongside All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan and rising star Coby White, Drummond averaged 7.3 points and 7.9 rebounds. He also shot 57 percent from the field as a backup center to Bulls big man Nikola Vucevic.

In a way, Drummond will fulfill that same role for former MVP Joel Embiid and the Sixers next season. If all goes well, Philadelphia may go far in the postseason, especially since the center will soon be playing alongside the team’s latest addition, Paul George.
