Nikola Vucevic has been playing at an elite level for the Chicago Bulls this season. He is one of the reasons the team is off to a decent start with a 3-4 record, good for sixth in the Eastern Conference.
The two-time NBA All-Star is Chicago’s second-leading scorer, averaging 21.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Nikola Vucevic is also shooting a team-high 54.8 percent from the field and 48.5 percent from three-point range and has recorded three straight double-doubles.
“I know it’s early in the year, but he’s really playing well on both ends of the floor,” Billy Donovan said about Nikola Vucevic after their game against the Utah Jazz via Sam Smith. “But too many times he gets missed and it’s not so much he needs to shoot it, but he’s got closeouts and that generally generates good stuff for us and we have to find ways to get it to him a little bit more.”
“He’s smart, he knows the shots he needs to be taking and the ones he has to get off and move to the next one, how to get in the lane and find someone else. I think he’s played very, very well on both ends,” he added.
Should the Chicago Bulls trade Nikola Vucevic?
The Chicago Bulls are in a tricky situation. Since they’re in rebuild mode, Chicago might have to decide whether to keep Nikola Vucevic in the long run since he just turned 34 last month.
One can argue that his trade stock has never been higher than it is today because of his superb form, but at the same time, the Chicago Bulls might not be keen on trading one of their important veteran players right away because of what he brings to the table.
Overall, fans will be monitoring this situation moving forward. If the Chicago Bulls suddenly go on a big losing streak later this season, expect trade rumors about Nikola Vucevic to resurface.
