Rumor has it that the Chicago Bulls are looking to play the long game, and they have reportedly registered their interest in Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Huerter.

KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago recently revealed that the Chicago Bulls are “fans” of the 25-year-old, which is something to monitor throughout this summer.
Kevin Huerter has been on the trading block this offseason, as the Sacramento Kings stacked up their guard depth with the re-signing of Malik Monk and the selection of Devin Carter in the 2024 NBA Draft alongside Keon Ellis and De’Aaron Fox.

After enjoying a career campaign in his first year in Sactown, Kevin Huerter’s numbers across the board dipped in 2023-24, averaging 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists on 44.3 percent shooting from the floor and 36.1 percent from three-point range in 24.4 minutes per contest and suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in March.
With the Sacramento Kings reportedly interested in Zach LaVine, adding Kevin Huerter in a potential trade with the Chicago Bulls sounds like a great idea. However, despite his talent, LaVine is on a bad contract, and his recent injury history doesn’t help.
Chicago Bulls could swap guards with the Sacramento Kings
Instead of Zach LaVine, the Chicago Bulls could see them land Kevin Huerter in a package deal that would send DeMar DeRozan to the Sacramento Kings in a sign-and-trade.
Jedd Pagaduan of ClutchPoints envisioned a trade scenario where the Chicago Bulls would get Kevin Huerter, Chris Duarte, and a lottery-protected 2027 first-rounder in exchange for DeMar DeRozan.

Huerter gives the Chicago Bulls an additional floor-spacer with low usage, while Chris Duarte adds depth to their bench as a serviceable role player.
As for the Sacramento Kings, trading for a guy like DeMar DeRozan gives them additional firepower alongside De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Malik Monk, and Keegan Murray to help them contend in the tough Western Conference.
