According to the coach, the tension was already building up, as evident by the level of physicality in the game.
“I thought it was a little lopsided in its physicality. And I thought that it was bound to happen. I just thought it got to a point where players were going to take matters into their own hands. You don’t ever want that. And just a lot of antics alongside of it, too.”
A fight broke out during a Timberwolves-Pistons game after a foul by Pistons’ Holland on Timberwolves’ Reid. The altercation escalated quickly, involving players from both teams and spilling into the stands, causing a significant delay before order was restored.

The aftermath saw seven ejections, including Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, Timberwolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni, and key players like Reid, DiVincenzo, Holland, and Isaiah Stewart. The brawl also set a record for the most technical fouls in an NBA game since 2005, with 12 being issued.

“What JB has done in Detroit Is absolutely incredible,” he said. “He’s built an Identity for this team. I voted for him for coach of the year for me it’s not even a contest what he’s done there in Detroit.”

JB Bickerstaff has transformed the Detroit Pistons into one of the most improved teams in the NBA during the 2024–2025 season. Taking over a team that won just 14 games last year, Bickerstaff has instilled a culture of resilience and teamwork, leading the Pistons to a winning record for the first time since 2015–2016.

So far this season, Chris Finch carried the Wolves to 7th place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 43-32, with a strong position to qualify for the play-in tournament.
