Cleveland Cavaliers fans are on a high after the most recent offseason didn’t see them losing much of their firepower in the slightest.
Donovan Mitchell agreed to fresh terms with the Cavaliers, ensuring their competitiveness in the Eastern Conference for the next three years. They’re also doing their best to keep Evan Mobley on the team by being an important figure in Kenny Atkinson’s hiring.
The team is also reportedly active in bringing more players into the squad. While they’re being connected to the likes of Brandon Ingram, the front office is also looking for other options they can pursue to make the team even more stronger.
This leaves players like Emoni Bates wondering what their future with the Cavs would look like. The incoming second-year forward didn’t have the best rookie campaign after a stellar sophomore effort in Eastern Michigan.
However, fans curious to his condition would be delighted to know that the forward showed improvements to his game in his latest Summer League apperance.
Emoni Bates stars Cleveland Cavaliers’ Summer League team after 18-point performance in limited minutes
The NBA took notice of Bates’ performance in the Summer League after helping the Cavaliers dominate the Milwaukee Bucks in their second Summer League game.

He showed off what a year of NBA ball did to his game, and his performance clearly indicates to the Cavaliers coaching staff that he’s ready to take on a more proactive role in the rotation.
Bates had to do this much if he wanted to cut out a space for himself in the league, as his rookie campaign didn’t end the way he wanted. In his 15 games for the Cavs, he only averaged 2.7 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists.
While the NBA is a completely different beast to the Summer League, Bates has shown enough improvement to at least make Atkinson reconsider his role in the squad.
