The Cleveland Cavaliers are still hot. They may never even cool down. What’s certain is that they are going to the NBA Playoffs regardless of what happens to the rest of the 2024-25 NBA regular season.
Another inarguable claim was made by Cleveland Tuesday night when they defeated the Brooklyn Nets at home to the tune of a 109-104, to officially clinch the Eastern Conference Central division title – and extend their win streak to 15 games.
“For the first time since 2017-18, your Cleveland Cavaliers are Central Division champs!” the Cavs posted via their official X (formerly Twitter) account following the win over the Nets.
The Cleveland Cavaliers can’t be stopped

The 2017-18 campaign was also LeBron James’ last season with the Cavaliers. Cleveland went 50-32 that season and made it all the way to the NBA Finals before falling prey to the Golden State Warriors.
That version of the Cavs and the one Kenny Atkinson is guiding differ from each other, but just like that James-led squad, the current Cavaliers are dominating the East and looking like a serious NBA title contender.
The Cavaliers found themselves in a 13-point hole at the half versus the Nets, but they found a way to overcome the deficit with a strong second half.
Cleveland used its stifling defense to slow down the Nets in the final two periods, where Brooklyn shot just 40 percent from the field. Meanwhile, Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland led the offense with 14 and 23 points in the second half, respectively.
