Cleveland Cavaliers forward Isaac Okoro was “honored” to become the last player to be the subject of a news report by long-time NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, who recently announced his retirement from ESPN to become the new general manager of St. Bonaventure’s men’s basketball program.
“Last Woj Bomb 🤷🏾♂️ #LetEmKnow” Okoro posted on his X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday.
Isaac Okoro recently signed a three-year, $38 million extension to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers after spending the last few months being a restricted free agent. Cleveland reportedly wanted to keep the former top-five draft pick all along, despite previous rumors of the team being okay to let him go as they tried to pursue other free agent wings.
According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Isaac Okoro could’ve signed a one-year, $11.8 qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025, but he didn’t bet on himself.
Okoro will earn from $10 to $12 million annually for the next three years instead of having the potential to earn more next year, especially if he does well this upcoming season.
Isaac Okoro provides much-needed depth for the Cleveland Cavaliers
The former Auburn standout is heading into his fifth season in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Last season, Isaac Okoro established himself as a key 3-and-D player, averaging 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists on 49 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent from three-point land in 69 regular season games (42 starts).
By re-signing Okoro, the Cleveland Cavaliers will have bench depth behind a starting lineup featuring a newly re-signed Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley.
With their current roster, Cleveland hopes to follow up last season’s Eastern Conference semifinal trip with a deeper playoff run next season.
