There is no hotter team right now than the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have been ripping one opponent after the other, the latest being the Charlotte Hornets in a thrilling 18-117 victory at Spectrum Center in Charlotte on Friday night.
The backcourt tandem of Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland unsurprisingly led the Cavs in that contest, scoring 24 and 20 points, respectively.
The two have been doing plenty of work on the court for the Cavaliers in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, and they’re also delivering the goods in style. They’re two athletic guards with great handles who can pretty much score from anywhere on the floor.
Mitchell, however, admitted that he isn’t one to put him and Garland above the like of the former Dallas Mavericks backcourt duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving and the pair of James Harden and Irving during their time with the Brooklyn Nets.
Via Jerry Donatien of ClutchPoints:
“I don’t know on the spot, that’s tough…there’s a backcourt of Kyrie Irving and James Harden that existed. There’s a backcourt of Kyrie and Luka that existed…I’m not ever gonna put anybody ahead of us.”
Donovan Mitchell when I asked him about if he and Darius Garland are the greatest “Bag court” in NBA history.

Cleveland Cavaliers win 13th game in a row with victory over the Hornets

The Cavs looked as though they were going to get upset by the Hornets when Charlotte had a nine-point lead after a 21-8 run with 5:41 left to play in regulation.
However, the Cavaliers roared back, refusing to surrender their undefeated run at the hands of a lottery-bound team, as they outscored Charlotte 26-15 the rest of the way for their 53rd win of the season.
Cleveland, which has already clinched a spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, will next face the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
