Cleveland Cavaliers: ESPN Analyst Wakes Up The Internet Over 1 Bold Donovan Mitchell Claim

The Cleveland Cavaliers made waves on Tuesday when it was announced that Donovan Mitchell had agreed to a three-year extension deal with the Cavs worth $150.3 million. That’s an important development this offseason for Cleveland, as that ensures them the availability of the star shooting guard for years to come. Without that deal, Mitchell would become a free agent in 2025.

Reacting to Mitchell’s deal with the Cavaliers, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst said on First Take that the former Louisville Cardinals star is “arguably the second-best player” in Cleveland franchise history.

.@WindhorstESPN says Donovan Mitchell's extension is the "second-biggest contract signing in the history of the team." 👀

Mitchell is, without a doubt a terrific player and he’s been great for the Cavs in the two years he’s played for the team thus far. However, there have been many other great players in Cleveland that came before him like Mark Price, Kyrie Irving, Brad Daugherty, and Larry Nance to name a few.

Fans react to Brian Windhorst’s claim about Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell

That claim from Windhorst immediately triggered wild reactions from fans online. There’s no question that LeBron James is the greatest player ever to wear a Cavaliers jersey, but Mitchell at No. 2? That’s not sitting well with a lot of Cavs and NBA fans based on the reactions on social media.

“Second best???? So we just erasing Kyrie from Cavs??😒😒”

“Has to win a ring but right now he’s actually 4th or 5th (if you know your Cavs history outside of LeBron lol)”

    “Does Kyrie no longer exist?”

“Talk about prisoner of the moment. How quickly he forgets the name Mark Price.”

“Second best? He ain’t done nothing actually been more disappointing after leaving jazz”

“Cant even be argued as top 5, can First Bait switch to football already.”

“Mark Price. Windy ought to be ashamed as a NE Ohio native”

“Kyrie, Daugherty, Price, Ron Harper? Mmmmm 🧐 These modern analysts say anything”
