Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell was not even able to suit up in what turned out to be the Cavs’ last game of the season. Without their cornerstone superstar available, Cleveland struggled to match up with the mighty Boston Celtics, who ultimately secured a 113-98 Game 5 victory on Wednesday night to close out their second-round series at 4-1.
At this point, it’s very much possible that Mitchell may have already played his final game for Cleveland.
Cleveland Cavaliers News: Donovan Mitchell Does Not See Eye to Eye With Organization

This is far from Mitchell’s first dance. In fact, the five-time All-Star has been in the playoffs in all six seasons of his career thus far.
Right now, Mitchell just wants to get over the hump. He has not gotten past the second round of the postseason, and this was the case yet again in his second year with the Cavs. At this point, the 27-year-old just wants more.
“That’s kind of also where the disconnect is at where you have an organization that feels prideful of what they’ve done and how they’ve been building, and a guy like Donovan Mitchell who feels like ‘we should not be just content and happy with a first-round win,'” NBA guru Shams Charania said following Cleveland’s season-ending loss to Boston.

Mitchell came to Cleveland with the objective of winning a championship in the near future. He hasn’t even come close to doing so in his first two seasons with the team. With the frustration growing on his part, it would not be a complete shock if he decides to call time on his Cavs tenure — especially with the prospect of Mitchell becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer.
