After getting the series tied in Game 2, the Cleveland Cavaliers are now behind the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. For his part, All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell knew exactly when they lost to their opponents over the course of Game 3.
During the third game of their series, the Celtics took the 106-93 win over Cleveland. In that contest, Jayson Tatum went berserk when he dropped 33 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists in almost 42 minutes on the court. All-Star forward Jaylen Brown was efficient throughout the night when he tallied 28 points on 76 percent shooting from the field and 66 percent from deep. Jrue Holiday added 18 points, eight rebounds, and five rebounds.
The Cavaliers, on the other hand, were led by Mitchell when he finished the game with 33 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Evan Mobley stepped up in Jarrett Allen’s absence with 17 points and eight rebounds. Darius Garland and Caris LeVert each contributed 15 points during their time on the court.
The victory helped Boston regain the lead and the momentum heading into Game 4. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers will try to even the series on their home court for Game 5.
Donovan Mitchell Reveals Exact Moment Cleveland Cavaliers Lost Game 3 to the Boston Celtics
Even during the game itself, Mitchell already knew the Cavaliers have lost to Boston. In a tweet posted by Evan Dammarell on X:
“Everyone’s gonna point to the third quarter but I’m going to point to the beginning of the game. … yeah we were right there but they got looks that we didn’t give them in Game 1 and Game 2.”
#Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell on Cleveland’s self inflicted mistakes in Game 3,” Dammarell tweeted.
As it stands, the Cavs are shooting the ball worse than Boston, not getting to the free-throw line enough, and has grabbed fewer offensive rebounds. If Cleveland hopes to win this series, they’ll have to address those areas first.
Cleveland fans are hoping for a win to tie the series against the Celtics. If the same thing happens again in Game 5, expect Mitchell to know early on during the game.
