There has been a significant buzz about Karl Anthony Towns being better than Nikola Jokic but the latter’s former Denver Nuggets teammate Bones Hyland wouldn’t have it.
Lou Williams, who is also a former Clipper, came to the Fan Duel ‘Run It Back’ show as a guest and claimed that the New York Knicks center is more skilled compared to his Nuggets counterpart.
However, when it comes to impact, it is the three-time MVP who receives the medal.
“Is KAT a more skilled guy? Absolutely,” said Williams. “[But] I think Jokic is more impactful [in] the way that he approaches the game. He doesn’t try to go out and be the best shooter – he tries to get the ball to the best shooter. He puts guys in a position to be successful outside of himself. I think that’s what sets them apart.”
Despite the great thing said by Williams about Jokic, Hyland, who played his first three seasons alongside the Joker, is not convinced.
“Lost ya mind brother,” he wrote on X while quoting the NBA Central report about Williams stance on Jokic vs KAT debate.
Bones Hyland’s on debate with Clippers, NBA career
It is great that Hyland has Jokic’s back despite him falling out of favor of Nuggets’ rotation. But right now, he has greater task at hand.
He has played just one game so far this season and for garbage minutes and reports said he is not going to be extended by the Clippers.
Hyland a had a good pre-season showing, averaging 10.3 points per game but that is yet to translate to regular season so far.
Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus reported that he will become a restricted free agent and is set to look for a new team.
“Look for the 24-year-old to get a short-term offer at or near the bi-annual exception amount (projected to be $5.1 million). The Clippers could also try to sign and trade him, but that would require a three-year deal—though only the first needs to be fully guaranteed,” Pincus wrote.
