Cooper Flagg’s career pattern in the NBA is already being predicted by draft experts and NBA executives, even before the 18-year-old player’s college basketball career has ended. Flagg is currently playing as a forward for the Duke Blue Devils and has created quite an impression on scouts, who have deemed him to be the no. 1 pick in the NBA draft.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Woo, Cooper Flagg’s future career in the NBA will be close to that of Scottie Pippen. An executive from the Eastern Conference then went on to remark that while Flagg is indeed a great player, he is not a no. 1 player. Instead, Flagg would be great at no. 2, and will need a solid teammate for optimal performances on the hardwood floor.
“I think Cooper will be a hell of a No. 2, but he might need a top 10 [player] running mate with him. He can obviously prove me wrong, but I don’t see him as a No. 1 guy on a championship team in his career.” an unnamed Eastern Conference executive said.
Cooper Flagg joined the Duke Blue Devils in the previous season, and has already won a number of accolades, including ACC Rookie of the Year, NABC Freshman of the Year and NABC Player of the Year. In this college basketball season, Flagg is averaging 18.9 points in each game, along with 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 helpers in every matchup.
