Duke Blue Devils superstar Cooper Flagg has been the long-running top favorite to be the first pick for the 2025 NBA Draft, and one analyst offered his insight and compared the college freshman to a few NBA stars, including Michael Jordan’s teammate Scottie Pippen.
In one of the recent editions of the program “Get Up!”, analyst Seth Greenberg compared Cooper Flagg to reigning NBA stars, such as Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum, among others.
“He’s got a little Jayson Tatum in his game, he’s got a little Grant Hill in his game, he’s got a little Scottie Pippen in his game,” Greenberg said.
“You’re talking about a 6-foot-9 that could run your offense through,” he added. “You’re talking about a 6-foot-9 that could defend multiple positions. You’re talking about a 6-foot-9 guy that has a ridiculously high basketball IQ. We’re talking about a 6-foot-9 guy that’s 18 years old and just scratching the surface.”

Greenberg emphasized how Cooper Flagg’s basketball IQ is what separates him from other young prospects in his generation.
Cooper Flagg Leads Duke to UNC Title Win
The Duke Blue Devils secured an 82-69 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels, clinching the outright Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title. Freshman Kon Knueppel led Duke with 17 points, while Cooper Flagg added 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four blocks.
From the side of the Tar Heels, senior RJ Davis led with 20 points, followed by Ven-Allen Lubin with 11 points.
“I think we did a good job of battling throughout the whole game, and it just wasn’t enough in the second half,” Davis said. “I think they got a lot of transition buckets, we left some guys open for threes, and we just couldn’t convert when needed on the offensive end.”

The game also marked the final home game for a regular season for UNC’s Davis, Jae’Lyn Withers, and Ty Claude.
“I’m as proud of this win as any because we knew Carolina, how they’d come out, ready to fight and compete,” said Duke head coach Jon Scheyer. “I thought they played at a really high level, and to be able to withstand that and then get back to our identity of playing defense down the stretch…I think that’s really the story.”

So far, Cooper Flagg remains to be the apparent first pick for the 2025 NBA Draft. He has, however, hinted at intending to play one more season in college.
