“Both of us were caught off (guard), surprised by (the trade),” Davis said via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “But that was two months ago. It happened. There’s nothing we can do about it now. Just told him, ‘Good game.’ He played a hell of a game. Just a respect thing.”
Davis and Doncic switched places last February in a three-team blockbuster trade involving the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Utah Jazz.

Last night, Davis finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists on 5-for-13 shooting from the field. On the other hand, Doncic went off for 45 points, eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, and seven three-pointers on 16-for-28 shooting from the field.
Luka Doncic opens up on “closure” with the Dallas Mavericks
Luka Doncic was visibly emotional when the Dallas Mavericks played a tribute video of him and the home fans serenaded him with cheers. Now that his return to Dallas was behind him, Doncic offered a blunt response about having closure after the trade.

“After that video, I was, like, ‘There’s no way I’m playing this game,'” Doncic said. “It was so many emotions.”
“It’s a hard question,” he added. “For sure, it’s a little bit more. Talking about closure, sometimes hard because I spent a lot of time here. Great moments. But it’s getting more and more (normal). I got to focus on different things now.”
