The Dallas Mavericks have angered their fan base in the past few weeks due to their head-scratching decisions, starting with the move to trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, Dallas has been ravaged by the injury bug, especially with Kyrie Irving out for the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.

The Dallas Mavericks front office has reiterated that the blockbuster Luka Doncic trade is the “right” move, but the fans believe otherwise. Team CEO Rick Welts re-affirmed their stance when he spoke on the broadcast of their game against the New York Knicks.
“Time, wins, and losses will tell whether it was a good or bad deal. I’m gonna promise to our fans right now whatever trust we’ve lost. we’re gonna earn it back because we’re gonna do this the right way and win championships,” Welts stated via New York Basketball on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Winning back the trust of Dallas Mavericks fans will be difficult considering where they were last season. Welts and co. can only pray that they will be proven right in the next few months.
