The Dallas Mavericks’ recent win against the Detroit Pistons came at an opportune time in the team’s terrible season.
The team’s video tribute to Tim Hardaway Jr. was a nice touch, but it was also clear that the team badly needed something to cheer about as their season has unraveled since trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

While their win against the Eastern Conference’s sixth seed wasn’t a blowout win Mavs fans have been used to, it was one a team without either of their stars can be happy about.
One of the players who made a huge contribution to the Dub felt the win was momentous enough to make a bold statement on what his team could do.
Spencer Dinwiddie makes a bold claim about his game after helping the Dallas Mavericks beat the Detroit Pistons

Spencer Dinwiddie was the most prolific player for the Mavs when they beat the visiting Pistons, 117-123. His 31 points on 9-for-12 shooting helped Jason Kidd’s team make up for a lack of contribution from the bench and get a much-needed win.
The 31-year-old guard talked about making such a huge performance on a game when the team’s future is up in the air, as reported by ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta:
“When you’re younger it’s very motivating. When you’re older, you’re like… ‘what the h*ll?.’ So it’s a little bit different,” Dinwiddie told reporters. “It’s a different feeling because it don’t make no sense to you, but you understand, like, that’s the business sometimes. Narratives fly and people run with it… My agent sent me something, I’m still a top 15 ISO player even with all the crazy stuff that happened this year… You don’t do that by accident.”
Dinwiddie’s numbers this season haven’t been impressive when you compare his averages to his previous output. His 11.0 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and 4.0 APG aren’t as prolific as his previous stint in Dallas, but he should get his number called more often now that Kyrie is out for the season. Moreover, his 31 points proved that he can still take over games when given the opportunity.

It’s unlikely that the Mavs will be able to mount a late-season push for the play-in tournament, but Dinwiddie and the rest of the Mavs roster will work hard to win as many games as possible and finish a confusing season on a high note.
