It’s been a while, but the Dallas Mavericks are finally back in the NBA Finals. They easily took down the Minnesota Timberwolves when predictions before the game saw the two squads embroiled in a difficult battle that would have taken at least six games.
While the game wasn’t as tight as fans would have liked, plenty of moments within the series-clinching 124-103 win delighted Mavs fans. Luka getting feisty with a Minnesota fan is a sure highlight that fans would talk about for quite some time.
However, the Mavericks aren’t the only ones returning to the Finals.
Kyrie Irving made a couple of Finals appearances during his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of the Big Three alongside LeBron James and Kevin Love. He left the Cavs to become his own man, but his journey has taken him to a whirlwind of an adventure.
Uncle Drew is excited to get things started since he has a chance to add to his sole championship ring with the Cavs.
Kyrie Irving is excited to play for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals
Irving played outstanding basketball to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves. He finished the series-clinching with an impressive stat line of 36 points, four rebounds, and five assists on 14-for-27 shooting and 4-of-10 from deep.
During the postgame interview, he was asked about what it feels like to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since the 2016-17 season. His reply clearly showed how he felt about the entire thing:

It’s clear how much he cherishes the opportunity to compete for another NBA championship. He left the Cavaliers when he was 24 to chase a championship ring outside of LeBron’s shadow, which took him to Boston. After failing to make an impact there, he tried to make it in Brooklyn with Kevin Durant.
By the time he arrived in Dallas, many regarded him as a talented teammate who was difficult to work with. There were questions on whether he would mesh well with Luka Doncic holding much of the ball.
However, Kai turned to be an indispensable asset for the Mavs. He’s averaging 22.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.2 steals on 48.5% shooting and 42.1% from deep this postseason.
His former team will be hard to beat with their outstanding core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. However, the Mavs have a clear shot as long as Luka and Kyrie are playing in perfect harmony.
