The Dallas Mavericks are under immense pressure when the 2024 NBA Finals move to the American Airlines Center on Wednesday. After dropping the first two games at the TD Garden, the Dallas Mavericks are in a must-win situation in Game 3 because no team has ever made a successful comeback from a 0-3 series deficit.
Luka Doncic has been doing all he can for Dallas, averaging 31.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game on 51.1 percent shooting from the field. However, he will need help from his supporting cast to stand a chance against the mighty Boston Celtics.
His co-star Kyrie Irving has struggled mightily in this series, primarily because of the Boston Celtics’ stifling defense, averaging only 14.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists on a woeful 35.1 percent shooting from the field and has yet to make a three-point shot.
Kyrie Irving wants the Dallas Mavericks to stay positive
Despite his struggles, Kyrie Irving doesn’t seem too stressed about it, as he tweeted a powerful message for the Dallas Mavericks’ faithful on Monday.
“Tribe, Keep God 1st and stay together no matter what. Pronoia > Paranoia Hélà🤞🏾🪶♾❤️” Irving posted on his X (formerly known as Twitter).
To his point, Kyrie Irving has been in this situation before in the playoffs, most notably when he helped the Cleveland Cavaliers claw back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Besides Kyrie Irving, the Dallas Mavericks will need more from PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II, and Derrick Jones Jr.
