With the attention of the entire NBA world fixed on what’s happening in Paris, it’s understandable that some Dallas Mavericks fans may have taken their eyes off Kyrie Irving a bit.
Fans will remember that the guard decided to take time off basketball to focus on healing his body and mind from the grueling season his team went through. Moreover, the surgery on his left hand leaves him no choice but to stay away from the game.
While many of Team USA’s stars are zeroed in on helping the team win the gold medal in Paris, Irving was reportedly spotted hanging out in another area in Europe to make the most of his vacation.
Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving spotted spending time in Greece with his family
Irving dodged the hustle and bustle that’s going on in Paris to spend some deserved R&R with his loved ones in Greece.
According to Tasos Kokkinidis of the Greek Reporter, the guard was spotted having the time of his life with his loved ones:
The Dallas Mavericks guard was seen as he went to eat with his family at the well-known Canale restaurant in the town of Chania.
The 32-year-old American, who was photographed with the owner Maximos Petrochilos and the manager Giorgos Chlorakis, tried Cretan dishes and was so excited by the flavors and the service that he left a €500 tip for the staff, according to a report in Mykonoslive.tv.
Since last season has been long for Irving and the rest of the Dallas Mavericks roster, having the chance to take a break with his loved ones would help the veteran guard feel recharged and ready to take on the 2024-25 season.
Will Irving be ready to go in preseason?
Performance has never been an issue for Irving. The one-time NBA champion had a strong season, averaging 25.6 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 5.2 APG on 49.7%/41.1%/90.5% shooting splits. However, injuries stopped him from being on the court as often as he would have liked.
The front office and fans are most worried about their star guard’s availability as he recovers from his injury. Irving’s camp hopes that he’ll be available by the time training camp starts, but the team will take it one step at a time. After all, they want Irving to be healthy when it matters the most.
