As seen in recent weeks, the Denver Nuggets are surging to the top of the Western Conference behind Nikola Jokic’s potential third MVP season. The thing is, Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks didn’t back down from the challenge during the last game against the defending champions.
In that particular game, the Mavericks went home with 107-105 win over Denver, thanks to Irving’s game-winning hook shot in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter. The one-time NBA champion ended up with 24 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and three steals for the Mavericks.

Doncic led Dallas with 37 points on 45 percent shooting from deep and 10 rebounds. On the other hand, Nikola Jokic tallied a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Jamal Murray dropped 23 points and seven assists as their team fell to the Mavericks.
Denver’s recent loss has placed them in a tie with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the first place in the Western Conference. The Mavericks, meanwhile, hold the eight spot with 38 wins and 29 losses.
Dallas Mavericks Star Luka Doncic Shares True Feelings On Kyrie Irving’s Game-Winning Shot Against Denver Nuggets

After the game, Doncic spoke to reporters and share his thoughts about Irving’s game-winning shot against the Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets team. In a post shared by Grant Afseth on X:
Luka Doncic was amazed by Kyrie Irving’s game-winner: “It’s unbelievable, man. I don’t think people realize how tough of a shot that is — with the off-hand, like even to have a chance… I don’t think people realize how tough that shot is,” Afseth posted.
Irving came over to Dallas from the Brooklyn Nets halfway through the previous season. Since then, the All-Star guard is currently averaging 25.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

Even though the Mavs are projected to participate in the Play-In Tournament, potential opponents will have to do their homework before facing them. With Irving backing Doncic up, there’s a good chance this Dallas team can surprise everyone in the coming months.
