The Dallas Mavericks are on a two-game win streak, thanks in part to Anthony Davis, who finally returned to action after missing 18 games because of an adductor injury.
Davis started for the Mavs in their Monday night’s game on the road versus the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 12 points, grabbing six rebounds, dishing out three assists and recording a steal plus a block in 27 minutes of action to help Dallas score a 120-101 victory.
The Mavericks have now won back-to-back games following a four-game losing skid. Before meeting the Nets, Dallas defeated the Detroit Pistons at home last Friday, 123-117.
Dallas will continue its road trip this Tuesday versus the New York Knicks in the Big Apple, but it seems that Davis will sit out that contest, due perhaps to the Mavericks trying to be cautious in their usage of the big man, especially in a back-to-back setup.
Via Underdog NBA:
Anthony Davis doesn’t expect to play Tuesday; said he’ll play Thursday.
Davis’ short-term availability plan for the Mavericks garnered some interesting reactions from fans online.
“Makes sense don’t wanna risk him playing a b2b coming off an injury”
“Damn he should’ve played at msg. I get it tho. Ensure victory against Brooklyn”
“Watch him play Saturday or next Monday 😂😂”
“So what was the point when theres 10 games left”
“Ah yes players pick when they wanna play thre eague should pay when they play too”
“How nice of him to let is know when and or IF he will be clocking in next time”

Dallas Mavericks still banged up even with Anthony Davis back

The Mavericks, who improved to 35-27 after the win over the Nets, still don’t have the likes of Daniel Gafford, Derek Lively II, Dante Exum, and Caleb Martin. That’s not to mention Kyrie Irving and Olivier-Maxence Prosper, who are both done for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season.
Dallas is on the outside of the Play-in Tournament picture looking in. The Mavs are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings, though, they have identical records with the Phoenix Suns.
It will be interesting to see how things shake out for the Mavs in their final 10 games, with their postseason fate still very much up in the air. Davis’ availability down the stretch will be a huge factor for the Mavericks, who will play six of their remaining games on the road.
