Luka Doncic Sends Strong Message for Dallas Mavericks After Game 1 Embarrassment Vs. Boston Celtics

Luka Doncic did all he could for the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night. As a matter of fact, the five-time All-Star almost single-handedly mounted a jaw-dropping comeback against the Boston Celtics in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Doncic and the Mavs fell short, though. Way short.

Doncic finished Game 1’s 107-89 blowout loss with a team-high 30 points on 12-of-26 shooting, to go along with 10 rebounds, an assist, two steals, and four triples in 38 minutes of action. It was all for nothing, though, as the Celtics made easy work of the Mavs in what turned out to be a lopsided contest.

Despite the brutal loss, Luka remained defiant in his post-game interview as he discussed the prospect of bouncing back in Game 2 on Sunday:

“Just focus on the next game,” he said, via Mavs reporter Grant Afseth of SI. “I think we really got good shots. We just didn’t make them. But we’ve got to go game by game. The Game 1 is over. We’ve got to watch film, what we did wrong, and focus only on the next one.”

At this point, there’s nothing Doncic or the Mavs can do to change the result of Game 1. What they can control, however, is how they respond to this savage beatdown.

As Luka implied, there’s no point crying over spilled milk. What Dallas needs to do now is to put this embarrassing loss behind them as quickly as they possibly can as they look to make things right on Sunday night.
